The Phoenix Mars Lander has touched down safely and is transmitting images back to earth. In case you missed it, here’s a NASA animation of Phoenix approaching and landing on Mars, then deploying its instruments. The video is refreshingly silent...no music, no soundtrack, no distractions at all. Just a reminder of what we can do with $420 million, which somehow didn’t get sucked into the $12 billion-a-month black hole of the Iraq War.
